Guardians of Middle-earth is a New DotA-style Lord of the Rings Game
I know it’s surprising, but there’s a new Lord of the Rings game in development. Guardians of Middle-earth is a new 10 player MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena; think Defense of the Ancients or League of Legends) game set within J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved Middle-earth universe. Developed by Monolith, Guardians of Middle-earth will feature more than 20 “guardian” characters from the Lord of the Rings universe, including Gollum, Gandalf, and Sauron. Guardians of Middle-earth is set for release this fall on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.
In addition, Guardians of Middle-earth will feature several new characters from the upcoming film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
-Nick’s take: I’ve never played a MOBA before, but I do love The Lord of the Rings. Hopefully, Guardians of Middle-earth won’t be too unwelcoming to newcomers to the genre.
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?
