Double Fine’s New Game The Cave Coming Next Year
The Cave is a new 2D game from the minds behind Monkey Island and Psychonauts.
Monkey Island developer Ron Gilbert and Psychonauts studio Double Fine (home to Grim Fandango creator Tim Schafer) are teaming up with publisher Sega to release The Cave in early 2013. The Cave is supposedly a 2D adventure game and will be available for download on Xbox Live Arcade, the PlayStation Network, and PC.
-Nick’s take: There’s a trailer of The Cave available online, so if you’re curious to see the game in action, I suggest checking it out. The creative team behind the project and marketing speak make it seem like The Cave is going to be a 2D interpretation of classic adventure games like Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle, but that trailer makes it look more like a 2D puzzle/platformer.
