Doom 3: BFG Edition Will be Released on October 16
Doom 3 was one of the best first-person shooters of the last generation. Sure, it was released in 2004–and was thus overshadowed by Half-Life 2 and even Far Cry–but Doom 3 featured incredible graphics (for the time) and plenty of scares. If you missed it in 2004, Doom 3: BFG Edition will be hitting the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 16 in North America.
Your $40 ($30 on PC) gets you Doom 3 and its expansion pack, Resurrection of Evil, plus new content in the form of “The Lost Mission”. All of the Doom 3 related content will feature modern amenities like HD graphics and 3D support, plus gameplay enhancements including a new checkpoint system and an armor-mounted flashlight that removes the original game’s controversial flashlight-or-gun mechanic. Doom 3: BFG Edition will also include the original Doom and Doom II.
-Nick’s take: I wonder if the co-op campaign from the Xbox version of Doom 3 will be included in the BFG Edition? Actually, what I’d really like to see is an HD version of the overlooked Doom 64, which is a great game that has never been remade. If you haven’t played Doom 3 yet, the BFG Edition is definitely worth picking up, regardless.
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?
