Castle Crashers: My New Addiction
So I’m out of town visiting a friend this week and haven’t had the opportunity to play the game I had intended on reviewing this week, so I decided to bring up something that sucked up way too much of my time lately.
Castle Crashers is amazing.
A button mashing side scroller of epic proportions, I had previously avoided the Xbox Live Arcade title simply due to it’s simplicity, combined with some pretty bad arcade titles in the past. Looking back on it now I realize that the only thing I accomplished by avoiding it was a loss of play time, I could have a level 99 character by now.
The premise is simple, pick a character and go save some maidens. Along the way of course you’ll have to kill a few thousand enemies or so, but hey nobody said love was easy. With a plethora of pets and weapons to collect and ulock, combined with a skill leveling system that will have you rerolling new characters on a regular basis, this game is sure to keep you busy for days if not weeks to come.
I think every gamer out there has a hidden list in their head of most memorable moments, most diffucult bosses, best gaming surprize, etc. Two previously held positions on my list have been shunted off to the side in favor of Castle Crashers.
Best Video Game Boss Fight: Was previously held by Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time, and is now held by The Painter. Calling forth his artistic creations for you to do battle with made for an interesting experience that bordered on an acid trip.
Best Video Game Ending: Was previously held by Final Fantasy IX… and well it’s still held by FFIX, it just now has some company at the number one spot. The Castle Crashers ending is probably one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen, it was amazing.
So, if you haven’t played it before, spend a couple of Microsoft points and pick up Castle Crashers from the Xbox Live Arcade, you won’t regret it… but your fingers might.
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?
