Ghostbusters The Game: The Real Thing?

If the preview, as experienced by Tom Hoggins of The Telegraph is anything to go by, then The Ghostbusters video game is set to capture the hearts of honest to goodness fans.  You know how movie turned video game stories go – fans often find themselves disappointed because of the mediocre quality of the game.  What some game producers do is merely take the theme of the movie and then hastily come up with a video game loosely connected to the movie.

According to Hoggins, however, Ghostbusters seems to be the real thing.  Take a look at the video below and judge for yourself.

Some points brought up by Hoggins…the script is all original, written especially for the game.  It is co-authored by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.  Most of the original cast members of the movie are present in the game as well – as voice talents.  In summary, the game’s plot is:

Set in 1991, two years after the events of the second movie, the game introduces a fifth Ghostbuster to join Pete, Ray, Egon and Winston: you. Finding yourself in the team at a time when ghosts are mysteriously popping up all over the city, it’s not long before you are thrust into ghost hunting duties at an unfortunate hotel, haunted by everyone’s favourite disgusting green blob, Slimer.

It was rumored that the game was complete some months back but obviously, it isn’t?  It will be released in June of this year, barring any problems.  And from what we have seen, it should be worth the wait.
