Get Used-Video Games at Amazon or Not?

Any gamer who has looked to save some money has bought a used game or traded in their old ones for another title. Of course video game makers would prefer all of us to buy new copies of the latest games each and every time but with the economy as it is everyone’s extra keen on saving money. Add to the fact that lots of gamers are kids that depend on allowances from their parents then you can see why used-video game businesses are cashing in big time.

Amazon wants in on the profit and just last week announced its new games trade-in program. The program initially sounded really nice with Amazon ready to give you Amazon gift cards in return for sending them in games that are worth 10 bucks or more. They’re even willing to reimburse shipping costs! After a closer look though everyone seems unhappy with the new program mostly because of the low trade-in incentive. Other complaints about the new program include limited game titles accepted and for gamers who can’t wait to get their hands on their new old games – the waiting time for your game to reach Amazon before you get anything.

In the meantime those who are still unconvinced about Amazon’s new trade-in program can continue to buy used games at GameStop or Goozex. GameStop is after all still the number one player in the used-video game market. Goozex on the other hand may be a lot smaller but its customer base is growing rapidly.
