Video Game Quarrel Results In Stabbing

What were these people thinking?  Oh, they probably were NOT thinking!  I read a news report on two men who fought over a video game and ended up with one man stabbing the other in the neck:

Roy Harris, 21, is in police custody, accused of stabbed Daniel Riveria, 28, in the throat, according to Ocala police. Riveria was airlifted to Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he remained in serious condition later Saturday.

Riveria, told Ocala police officers that the deep cut to his neck came when Harris attacked him after the two men had a disagreement while playing video games. Riveria was able to break away from the scuffle, and Harris fled the scene.

It was not clear what the video game in question was.  Neither was it clear as to exactly why they fought.  I am sure it was pretty clear to Riveria that he was seriously injured, though.

When I read news articles like this one, I can’t help but shake my head in frustration.  When these things happen, the newspapers seem to zone in on one thing: the video game being the cause of the fight.  I can just now see those against video games using this incident as an example.

Come on guys, we really do not need this kind of publicity, right?  We all know that the video game is not to be blamed for lack of sense and restraint.  We do not need this kind of thing at any time.
