PlayStation Home Is HERE!

Finally! After years and years (well, it seemed like years to me) of waiting on Sony to release PlayStation Home, we finally got what we have been waiting for! The news actually ran through the grapevine like crazy early this month. If you have been looking through other blogs and online gaming news sites, you would have stumbled across at least one item mentioning that Home should be released within this month.

I was still skeptical, however. You know how much I love Sony but I am also pragmatic. They have been known to promise things and they have been known NOT to meet deadlines. Home is actually a prime example of that! This time, though, the rumor was well founded. Home Beta was actually launched on Thursday of last week and boy, was I excited!

The first thing that I did when I woke up was to check and see if it was indeed up – and it was. Naturally, I had to download the software and then wait for it to install. Once that was done, I was able to log in and create my avatar. Unfortunately, the servers crashed the next day due to the huge number of people trying to access Home.

It is up and running again now and so far, I have been able to roam around the world, dance, watch trailers, and chat with the people online through voice. It is pretty cool, really, especially if you ponder on the vast potential that Home has to offer. I am just hoping that it won’t go the same way as Second Life has gone…
