Video Games = Art

This Week’s Releases (UK)

Another quiet week, with many devs and publishers at conferences or prepping for upcoming conferences the videogame marketing machine is focussed on the future. It starts to pick up again in two weeks, though not having looked further than that I don’t know if its just a blip or not.

PC
Two Worlds Collector’s Edition – 7/8/2007: Touted as an Oblivion beater, this FPSRPG with dark overtones has something of a cult following.

360
Two Worlds Collector’s Edition – 7/8/2007: Its the PC version but without the keyboard, for the more pad oriented players out there.

Wii
Trauma Center – Second Opinion – 10/8/2007: Its a surgery sim, its predecessor on the DS recieved many plaudits from critics for its innovative, if gruesome, use of the touch screen. Lets hope that the same can be said for this version.

PS2
Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System – 9/8/2007: Basically a director’s cut of FFXII with better voice acting, 16:9 widescreen compatibility and a double speen mode allowing you to complete the game faster.
Top Trumps: Dogs and Dinosaurs and Top Trumps: Horror and Predators – 10/8/2007: If you’ve ever played Top Trumps, one of the first collectible card games, where you had to beat your opponent by reading numbers off a card. then this will be familiar to you. There are two decks included in each of these games, though you obviously can only play with one at a time, unless they’ve drastically changed the rules since I last played.

DS
Mega Man Star Force – 7/8/2007: First in a series of 3 Mega Man titles to celebrate the little blue guy’s 20th anniversary.
Purr Pals – 10/8/2007: Its a game where you care for and raise a kitten, I’m presuming that there isn’t the option to put it in a weighted sack and throw it in a river.
Super Fruitfall – 10/8/2007: Coming from a one-man development company is quite impressive, its still no excuse for this not so original puzzle game. Move the fruit around in the right order to make them all dissappear, I was playing something very similar on the PC years ago.
Top Trumps: Dogs and Dinosaurs and Top Trumps: Horror and Predators- 10/8/2007: Much the same as the PS2 versions but portable and using the touchscreen.

Thats the new releases in the UK this week, next week’s not much better but you’ll have to wait till next Sunday to see how bad it really is.
