This Week’s Releases (UK)
I may have been a little premature in saying the summer lull had begun, though looking ahead this does seem to be the last big week for new games for a while.
PC
Zamby and the Mystical Crystals (26th June): Zamby is a Qwonk, and needs light crystals to illuminate his cave. Obviously its not a case of heading down to the nearest hardware store and buying some lightbulbs.
Agon : Lost Sword of Toledo (29th June): Sequel to Agon: The Mysterious Codex, no more information is forthcoming.
Black Hawk (29th June): Add on for Microsoft’s Flight Simulator featuring The US Army helicopter of the title and its derivatives.
Eurofighter Typhoon (29th June): Another addof for Flight Simulator which lets you fly the soon to be in service Eurofighter.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (29th June): We all know what this one’s about, and if you don’t, which rock have you been living under for the last decade?
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (29th June): Capcom’s gorgeous 360 action shooter comes to the PC, don’t expect a budget rig to run it though.
Overlord 29/6/2007
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (29th June): The Clancy legacy churns out another conflict for the Ghosts to resolve.
UFO: Extraterrestrials (29th June): Turn based action combat, latest in the X-com series.
Vigil - Episode 1: Blood Bitterness (29th June): An interesting looking title, only available through Steam, which blends visceral horror and point and click puzzles with an eerie black and white colour scheme.
PS3
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (29th June): Guess what this one’s about…
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas (29th June): The Rainbows take down tangos in the bright lights of the casinos.
PS2
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (29th June): Like the PS3 version but not as pretty.
PSP
Exit 2 (29th June): This was meant to be out last month but didn’t make it for some reason.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (29th June): Like the PS2 version but portable.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas (29th June): Take your rainbow with you where-ever you go.
360
Call Of Juarez (29th June): The PC western sneak/shoot-em-up comes to the 360.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (29th June): You know what this one’s about, or do I need to explain it again?
Overlord (29th June): Become the epitome of evil in this Dungeon Keeper-esque game.
Project Sylpheed (29th June): Intense arcade action comes to the 360 in this remake of the PS2 title.
Tenchu Z (29th June): Ninjas in HD. Hide in the shadows and perform gruesome stealth kills with this feudal Japanese sneak-em-up.
The Darkness (29th June): If there was a game I would buy an Xbox 360 for this would be it. Horror with a twist, you are the horror. Darkness gives you strength, corpses are food, and manifest your darkness in a variety of forms.
Vampire Rain (29th June): Hunt the vampires, Kill the vampires. Nothing to see here, move along.
Wii
Pokemon Battle Revolution (25th June): Gotta catch ‘em all! I’ve come to the conclusion that Pokemon (if that’s the plural) are like diseases, if you catch them all you die.
Driver Parallel Lines (29th June): Cop/Criminal driving game comes to the Wii.
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (29th June): Mediocre movie tie in that doesn’t make good use of the Wii’s unique control system from what I’ve heard.
G1 Jockey Wii (29th June): Along with train simulators, the horse racing game is one I’ve never really understood.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (29th June): The only version of this game worth playing in my opinion. Uses the Wiimote as a wand.
Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition (29th June): The long awaited Wii port of the survival horror classic.
DS
Harlem Globetrotters World Tour (29th June): Another one that slipped from last month.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (29th June): Only worth buying if you want to play the game on the train.
More Brain Training from Dr Kawashima: How Old Is Your Brain? (29th June): This extension of the original Brain Training tells you how old your brain is. You never know, they may have swapped it for a pensioner’s while you were sleeping.
Puzzle League DS (29th June): Tetris/columns clone, of a type which is all too common already on the DS.
Touchmaster (29th June): Compilation of mini games including Mah-Jong, Solitaire, Gem Slide and trivia games.
