PS3 To Get 380 Games By March 08
It has been revealed by Kazuo Hirai, the new president of Sony Computer Entertainment, that there are plans to release 380 games for the PS3 before March next year. This equates to roughly 7 games a week between now and then.
Hirai explains, in an interview with Japanese newspaper Nikkei Business Daily, that Sony will also be working closely with developers and publishers to ensure better marketing for the games and that there will be approximately 200 retail games with the rest being available to download through the Playstation Network.
Sony have certainly got their work cut out for the next 9 months and there are no guarantees that there will be many AAA titles in the mix. If you cast your mind back to the PS1 and PS2 there were literally hundreds of games released for these consoles, most of them being total pap. From this previous experience it may be a little optimistic to think that we’ll be seeing many works of art among the games released. (From IGN.com.)
