PS3 Ready To Rumble
The rumours have been flying for what seems like months and finally, after many evasions and misdirections, they have been confirmed. The PS3 is to get a rumbling SIXAXIS controller, dubbed the DualShock 3.
Although announced at Sony’s Keynote at the Tokyo Games Show this week, the cat was let out of the bag ahead of time by EA. When reporters for IGN had a hands on demonstration of the game they thought something was slightly different about the controller they were using, it was slightly heavier and had “Rumble” on a sticker on the underside, they weren’t that surprised when the pad shook violently i their hands weh they crashed.
During the Keynote, SCE’s CEO Kaz Hirai, confirmed that the DualShock brand would be reborn as a SIXAXIS controller for the PS3, and that a number of games already supported the feature whilst others, such as MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man and Warhawk would need a software update.

So the devs have known for ages, and of course Sony has known, and lets face it so has everyone else. Due to ship in Japan in Novemeber and the US and Europe next spring, no price has been announced for the new controller as yet but as soon as it is I’ll be the first to let you know.
