PCI Express For Laptops
MSI have announced an enclosure which lets you plug a full width PCI Express graphics card into your laptop. Using the ExpressCard slot present on many newer laptops, the Luxium also offers audio support, an ethernet port and two USB ports, in case your laptops sockets are all used up.
Using the enclosure will increase your laptop’s graphics power considerably but don’t expect to get the full speed of PCIe x16 out of it as the ExpressCard slot only supports a 2.5Gbps data rate and doesn’t support SLi, but we can’t have everything now can we? these shortcomings are more than made up for by having a laptop you can simply unplug and take away when you need it elsewhere rather than a whole separate desktop system.
The MSI Luxium follows on from ASUS’s XG station in bringing high power gaming to laptop users. No word as yet on dates or price but seeing as the enclosure doesn’t include a card, I’d expect tit to be reasonably cheap. (From Ars Technica.)
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?

Why wait for this product to launch and get all the bugs worked out when there’s already the CinePort Express from CineMassive Displays. Its a PCI Express expansion slot system for your laptop that adds gpu’s for up to 4 additional screens from your laptop. Its been around for a while so they probably have the bugs worked out. This isn’t vapor wear. Its worth a look:

Ah yes, I’ve seen these before. We can dream I suppose. I’ve got a two monitor setup myself and it only cost me the price of two monitors $749 seems a bit steep.
