Parkour Game Totems Coming 2008
Parkour, the urban sport from which Free Running derives, seems to be in vogue at the moment, with Assassin’s Creed taking alot of inspiration from it and Free Running having been released. 10tacle have announced the development of another Parkour/Free Running inspired game called Totems for the PC and 360.
Using what the developers call a “Semantic Environment Sensing System“, Totems will, they claim, allow the execution of complex movement and combat manoeuvres without having to remember laborious button combinations. They also hope that the non-linear gameplay and highly interactive environment will be accessible to a wide audience whilst still offering the depth and challenge expected by hardcore gamers. As you would expect with a next-gen title, and can see from the screens below the scenery looks beautiful and there’s “an elaborate and original mythology,” to explore. We’ll have to wait till 2008 to get our hands on it though, by which time the Parkour fad may have passed.
