Omega Sektor Opens Its Doors In The UK

omega_sektor.jpgA re-imagining of the traditional videogame arcade opened its doors in Birmingham this morning, Omega Sector is a state of the art gaming venue where patrons can try out the latest hardware and games. A number of tournament organisers have signed up to use the centre for a variety of gaming events and OS themselves will also run their own internal tournaments for cash prizes.

The venue was launched last night at a VIP party attended by the press a representatives of Omega Sector’s sponsors which include Activision, THQ, and Square Enix. It seems from the photos that a good time was had by all.

The venue itself comprises two floors totalling 22,000 square feet, with 450 high end PC’s and a dedicated next-gen console room with over 100 games to choose from. The ground (first, for our American friends) floor features games rated up to 12+, while upstairs the grownups can get their gaming fix with games rated 15+ and over. There is also a VIP gaming room which can be hired for private events and special tournaments. I find myself wishing that I lived in Birmingham, which is 500 miles away.
Although new to the UK, there are another 24 Omega Sektors around the world offering the same top end gaming experience, there are also a couple of moblie Sektors ready to tour universities, festivals, concerts, and city centres throughout Britain, though I doubt they’ll be coming anywhere near the sleep little town I live in.
