Jericho Hits A Wall In Germany
Clive Barker’s latest game, Jericho, is brutal, horrific, and unrelentingly gory, as you would expect from the creator of Hellraiser, Nightbreed, and many deeply disturbing fantasy and horror novels. It has proved too much for the German ratings board, the USK. Hit the jump to see just how nasty this game looks.
With the demo hitting the PC, PS3 and 360 tomorrow this highly anticipated title is the latest game to fall foul of the USK’s stringent ratings system. Gears of War and Crackdown are just two other titles which have been denied a rating, leaving German gamers with no option but to import them. The denial of a rating does not equate to an all out ban however, as it does in the UK, it merely means that the game cannot be sold to minors or via online orders. Meaning only over 18 PC gamers will be able to buy it at retail. Personally I’m quite looking forward to the title’s release (and will be downloading the demo when the opportunity arises) I’ve long been an admirer of Barker’s uncompromising style and willingness to ignore taboos. He is also a firm believer in the fact that games are just as valid an art form as any other, as his online feud with respected movie critic Roger Ebert attests.
