How to find a Nintendo Wii
Ok. I finally found a good tip for finding a Nintendo Wii during this time when, at most times of the week, the Wii is not available for the average person just walking into a random store.
Here’s the tip: find out when each store in your area receives its UPS shipments (time of day) and then show up at the store about 30 minutes early, start talking to someone who knows about the store’s shipment schedule and ask them how you can find out whether a shipment of Wiis had come in. They’ll probably tell you to go to a designated area and just wait. Regardless, you will have positioned yourself to get first dibs.
Since Nintendo Wii’s are trickling in via UPS shipments, you may need to do this for a few days during the week. But you are pretty much guaranteed a system if you follow through on this procedure.

[...] Gaming Moments has a nice tip for those of you looking for a Wii (I might try it myself, actually…once I figure out who delivers to the stores in France…) [...]
Now if I only didn’t have to work 9-5 Mon-Fri :-/
Yep, sounds about right. I seriously thought about dumpster diving for a few stores old UPS tracking codes to see if I could build a patter from that
I work in the electronic and photo departments at Wal*Mart, and I know for a fact that at Wal*Mart, they don’t know when the UPS trucks are arriving. They just show up, and then the guys in receiving send the freight out to the floor.
Jordan
wow man, ur a genius.
It’s a great tip, however most stores that I came across (I live in the EU) have reservation lists. I guess you have more stores in the US without that
Ugh, not pre-ordering the Wii has been the most irresponsible action I have ever done.
Are Wiis arriving a few (say 5) at a time or on a once a week schedule with a larger load?
Either way, it’s refreshing to see I’m not the only one who has called every electronics store in a 50 mile radius. Thanks for the tips :).
haha good idea. Well done for getting to the top of Digg- Say byebye to your bandwidth!
Even easier…

I did this at Best Buy in BC, Canada. Three times I lined up after hearing of their shipments coming in, for sale the next morning. The first time I lined up (at 7am, Dec 8), I was the first person NOT to get one. The second time I lined up (at 6am, Dec 15), I was the second person not to get one. The third time I lined up (tag-teaming with my wife, starting at 11pm the night before, on Dec 22), I got a note saying I was #18/40 to buy one when the store opened! So I go in, get handed a Wii, go to pay and find out I’m NSF!!! I don’t have the money to buy it!! I had maxed my line of credit and credit cards!!! The stress, the frustration……So, at income tax return time……
i used iTracker which is good if your trying to find a Wii at Target. It said it had two in stock and when we went there it was behind the register with other accessories.
so if you see like Remotes or Nunchucks in a box somewhere, they have Wiis. Best 2 dollars I spent.
I used outtastock to find my Wii. It was a sports bundle but I was able to return the games so in the end I only paid for the console (not a big fan of sports games).
This is exactly how I got my Wii. Though I didn’t try to do it, I just got lucky. I was in EB looking for a PSP game when the UPS guy arrived. A few minutes later the clerk said they had 3 Wii’s if anyone wanted one. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than smart.
