Holland Could Get PAL Manhunt 2 Uncut

Once more reaffirming their liberal (in the classical sense) credentials, Holland will be the only place where a PAL version of the controversial title will be available. Citing the following reason:

The current law is based on the principle that every adult is considered capable of deciding for himself which games he wants to play, unless it contains illegal material.

Don’t you just love those Dutch? It is currently illegal for the government to censor games (or other media), or prevent their sale to adults, unless they contain illegal material. Illegal material currently consists of child pornography or racist material. Personally I’m hoping that it’ll be available in English, then I can import it, whether that would involve me having to go and get it I don’t know. Its something I’ll be looking into and I’ll be sure to let you all know what I find. Not that I liked the first Manhunt title and that kind of ultra violence in games isn’t really my thing. I’m like many who will be buying the game I suspect, I just want to see what all the fuss is about.

There is now only the issue of the console manufacturers licensing it for release on their consoles, if it is to be released uncut in The Netherlands, it will only be the PC edition. It doesn’t look likely that Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft will allow the uncut version anywhere near their platforms, so PC it is. If my machine won’t run it, I’m not going out to buy a new one just for Manhunt 2, I’m not that curious.
