Halo 3 Will Be Last In Series, But The Universe Has More To Offer
Along with Microsoft’s announcement yesterday that Halo 3 will be released on September 25th in the US, and a day later in Europe, was accompanied by the expected announcement that this will be the last Halo game in this series. However Shane Kim, head of Microsoft Game Studios, said in an interview with The Mercury News:
“”I think what we have built is an amazing universe with Halo. There are more stories to tell in the Halo universe. We are building a real-time strategy game with Ensemble Studios. That is going to be very successful when you combine their expertise in that genre with the amazing back story of Halo. So I do agree that I think the universe itself will support a lot more. With respect to this story, Bungie has been very clear. This is the end of the Halo trilogy. Master Chief is here to finish the fight.”
The RTS mentioned is Halo Wars which is based on the original idea for halo developed by Bungie. Yes you read right, Halo was originally going to be an RTS. It seems that The Master Chief Trilogy, as I am going to call it from now on, is only the first product from the Halo universe, and MSG are going to have to work extremely hard to top it.
