Halo 3 Beta Was Played For 1,400 Years
…if all the player-hours were played by one person that is. Microsoft has released some stats relating to the beta of their flagship 360 title Halo 3.
- Over 820,000 individual players participated in the beta.
- Those players racked up almost 12 million hours of gameplay over the 4 week test.
- over 350 Terabytes of data were downloaded through Xbox Live, equivalent to 82 million digital music downloads.
- 580,000 saved films were created by users using the new feature, unveiled in the beta, which allows players to record and share their in game experience
Shane Kim, coroprate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, said of the beta:
Witnessing such a great reaction to a small portion of the game has been inspiring. It’s a testament to the fervor and anticipation that surrounds ‘Halo 3.’ We’re confident that on 26th September Halo 3 will drive an unprecedented wave of new gamers to the Xbox 360 platform and Xbox LIVE.â€
These stats and more will be used by Microsoft and Bungie to improve the overall game experience.
Those of you not willing to take up any of the ideas I mentioned earlier this week to stave off Halo withdrawal will be glad to hear that a series of accessories featuring Halo branding will be released a few weeks before the game comes out on 26th September. A limited edition Halo 3 wireless controller, packaged with a McFarlane Toys figurine will be available for an estimated £34.99, in either Master Chief or Covenant styling. Also available will be a limited edition wireless headset in Spartan gold and green also estimated to come in at £34.99.
