Father Of The PlayStation To Retire
The creator of the PlayStation and, some would argue, father of modern console gaming is to retire on June 19th. Ken Kutaragi, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment will be replaced by president and COO Kazuo Hirai. Kutaragi will serve as SCEI’s Honorary Chairman and as an adviser to Sony Chairman Sir Howard Stringer.
Mr. Kutaragi was responsible for the invention and launch of the PlayStation in 1994 which turned console gaming into the mass market it is today. In a statement Mr Kutaragi said:
“I am happy to graduate from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. after introducing four platforms to the PlayStation family. It has been an exciting experience to change the world of computer entertainment by marrying cutting edge technologies with creative minds from all over the world. I’m looking forward to building on this vision in my next endeavors.â€
The industry owes alot to this visionary individual who dreamed of a console in every home. (From Neowin.)
