Bioshock To Get DLC?
Rumours abound on the net at the moment about whether Bioshock is to get 4 extra plasmids as downloadable content. 2K games is refusing to confirm or deny the rumours, which were uncovered by an enterprising individual who went through the code and its accompanying documentation with a fine toothed comb.
Details of new Gene Tonics and plasmids reveals that there are a whole slew of extra abilities which were ‘commented out’ of the final game, but whose code remains dormant, waiting to be uncommented. Sort of like the infamous ‘Hot Coffee’ mod for GTA:SA. Evidence of the following additions to your plasmid arsenal have been found:
- Sonic Boom Plasmid - Hurls your enemies backwards with a shockwave.
- Eve Saver Gene Tonic - Supposedly reduces the Eve cost of every plasmid.
- Vending Expert Gene Tonic - No real clues as to what this does, I’m guessing that it reduces prices at vending machines without needing to hack them.
- Machine Bully Gene Tonic - Again, no real info on what this does, though I would have thought it makes turrets, bots and cameras easier to deal with.
There is also some hint of an entirely new plasmid type which protects you from pressurised areas and other environmental effects.
2K remain tight lipped as to whether these will be activated in future or not, leaving us all (apart form PC gamers with coding knowledge) dreaming of the marvellous new genetic abilities which seem to be just out of reach…
