Announcement Creates Crysis For PC Owners
The crisis in question being whether to buy their significant other that really swanky gift for Christmas or spend the money on a new rig for the purpose of playing Crysis. The specs are out, and they’re not as bad as you might think.
I’m going to put the recommended specs first:
- XP/Vista
- Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz
- AMD Athalon 64 X2 4400
- 2GB RAM
- GeForce 8800 GTS (640)
Now I fall down on the graphics card, and miss by a hair on the processor, but I’m well within the minimums:
- Single Core 2.8GHz XP/3.2 GHz Vista
- 1 GB RAM XP/1.5 GB Vista
- DirectX 9.0c Compatible GPU
- 12GB Free Hard Drive
No specifics as to which DX9c cards are required, but you have evidence right there of what a resource hog Vista is.
I won’t be spending the Christmas money on a new machine, if I did I’d miss out on my Christmas (the wife and I are taking ourselves off to Iceland for the EVE FanFest, leaving the kids behind.) But there are hints of a new graphics card being dropped and though it won’t be an 8800 it’ll certainly be better than the one I’ve got just now.
If you don’t mind it not looking as gorgeous as it could (and I don’t), then these specs are quite a welcome relief. The gameplay will be the same no matter what it looks like, and from what I’ve heard and have been reading, the gameplay absolutely rocks.
