AMD Launches Gaming Website
AMD have launched a new community based website through which gamers can keep up with the latest developements in PC gaming, participate in forums, unlock extra content for their games and enter monthly competitions (not open to people outside North America).
As with many of these corporate setup ‘community’ websites its awfully US-centric, I’m extremely miffed that I can’t enter the competition, I could use a decent gaming rig. Another thing about these sites is that they look awfully nice but are thin on decent content, you have to take any articles and opinions voiced by the participants with a grain of salt, as one commenter on the Neowin article posted:
AMD GAME! Forums:
“What computer should I buy?”
“Intel Core 2 Duo E6550, NVIDIA 8800GTS…”*Banned*
These kinds of sites are not there to foster a decent community, they’re there to market their products, remember this and you should be okay. Its good of them to make the effort though, even it it does seem like they’re simply jumping on the Web 2.0 bandwagon.
