Wii Availability!?
There’s got to be a better way.
I’ve been trying to get my hands on a Wii since its launch. No luck. That’s not what pisses me off.
What makes me really angry is that Nintendo has failed to communicate with its customers. Keep open the freakin’ line of communication people. Let us know when you’re shipping new units. Let us know when we can expect to be able get one.
This dude has a good idea. Why not have an live, updated online tool that lets us find those few stores that have a Wii in stock. I live on the East Coast and there just aren’t any units. I’ve spent hours and hours looking.
But, reports are that the wii is available in some locations around the country. I honestly wouldn’t mind driving 2 hours to pick one up. Just show me on a map where I can get one. Oh, and no, I’m not going to buy a Wii on eBay. Not going to shell out an extra $200 over retail. That complete BS.
So here’s the deal. This video game companies need to learn a thing or two about how to communicate with their customers. I’m really upset. Not because the Wii is sold out (I understand supply issues), but because the company fails to give us any tips on how to find the system we all want. The Wii is available…but where? Huh, Nintendo? Can you at least answer that for me?
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?

What blows me away is that Sony and Nintendo are wasting money on commercials/ads when they can’t meet demand. Doesn’t take an MBA to understand that sort of waste….
To be honest, you are not Nintendo’s customer. Best Buy, Walmart, and EB Games are Nintendo’s customer. You should be pissed off about their behaviour, Nintendo’s
I agree with what Fishy has to say about wasting all of the companies money on commercials when there isn’t a single WII that we know of that’s in reach. What really got me angry is how that one day (Black Friday) all these people are getting in lines by the hundreds at nearby elec-tronic stores. Then after that day I find out that all of the WIIs are sold out. Next I go on Ebay and find these WIIs with outrageous-ly high prices and I was upset!(Darn Black Friday)
I made two semi serious attempts to get hold of a Wii before Christmas. The first was on launch day when I spent about 10 minutes in line at Circuit City. They had 50 units and I counted back through the line and figured they would run out before I got to the checkout. The second attempt was a week before Christmas after I had over heard an associate at Target telling another customer that they we getting a shipment that they were going to make available at 8:00am on Sunday. I showed up at 6:00am and there was already a line 200 people long. I went home and returned just a few minutes before 8:00am and strangely, the line had gone down to about 20 people. Apparently, they handed out tickets to the first in line and told everyone else to go home. Talking to one of the associates later that morning, she said that most of the first in line were there the night before when she was going home! I’d gave up and promised my daughter a Wii after Christmas. The day after Christmas, we went to a major shopping plaza and visited 3 stores that sold the Wii but none had any for sale. Then, I went to Target and much to my surprise, they had at least half a dozen Wiis in there display case. Asked the associate if I could have one and several minutes later we was on my way home with my Wii and Zelda for $288.00 total!
My friends were telling me that I should have bought extra systems to sell on Ebay but I’m not the kind of person to take advantage of others. I wish there was someway I could have told others that this particular Target had the Wii in stock.
Anyway, the Wii console is wonderful! Wii Sports, Zelda and NFS Carbon are great and far exceed my expectations.
Good luck to you all. It’s worth the wait.
IF your still looking for a wii, talk to the employees at an electronics store like gamestop, and ask them when the UPS guy delivers stuff everyday. I did this, and recieved one right after the UPS man walked into the door of the store.
Nice theory…I got to EBGames AS the UPS truck was delivering Wiis, and I was still unable to get one. They sold to the people waiting in line the second they got into the store. I figure it will be several months before I will be able to get one.
I say kill them all and let god sort them out.
It seems the situation still has not changed now at the end of 2007.
Wii availability is simply not given in most areas. Unbelievable especially because Wii is available in many european countries.
I’m so sorry I bought the WII you can’t get the games!! It is such a hassle. I knew last year I stood in line for 1.5 hours (against my better judgement) and I got the WII. I really didn;t think the problems would continue. At this point I think I’m selling it and buying an Xbox atleast you can go to the store and buy the products.
What really grinds my gears is that I can’t seem to find one anywhere in a 100 mile radius, yet can go on ebay and find someone selling 10 of them in a dutch auction
