Family Gaming

There’s a cool post over at BackGammonMoments on the role that games play in families.  Whether it’s a bonding agent between siblings or a way for a father to pass down his tradition to his kids, games are one of the best ways to share life together.

I remember my dad teaching me Parcheesi for the first time.  He went on and on about how it was his favorite game as a kid.  And you know what?  I loved it too!  Not a complicated game.  Only a little bit of strategy.  But I got hooked.

All I ever wanted to do was play Parcheesi (and beat my Dad!).  I can still vividly remember sitting around the table, eating oranges, talking smack and just loving life.  Some of my best memories trace back to that simple game.

Despite my love for the game, you won’t catch me playing Parcheesi online!  It was all about playing it with my dad, in his presence, with the smell of oranges;-)  It was all about physical presence and spending time together sharing a family game.
